Booking Dog-Friendly Hotels and Accommodations in London, UK

London, in the United Kingdom, is one of our favorite cities to travel to. Not only is London very dog-friendly, but people go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. Finding dog-friendly hotels and accommodations is not that difficult, but choosing the right one near a park is important.

3rd Party Booking Websites

We rarely book hotels and accommodations through Booking.com and always try to book directly. Their website is really helpful for searching for dog-friendly hotels. We use Booking.com’s “Pets Allowed” filter to find hotels that allow dogs. We always reach out to the hotel directly to confirm their pet policy and see if there are any additional charges.

Even if Booking.com says they allow pets, the information is not always accurate, or the hotel may change their policy based on the time of year. Whenever possible, we try to book directly on the hotel’s website, which usually ends up being less expensive and gives us peace of mind that we confirmed their pet policy directly with them.

Additional Fees for Dogs

Natascha is a Marriott Platinum member, having achieved this status after years of traveling for work. We were excited about the benefits of Platinum membership until we discovered that many Marriott hotels do not allow dogs. Those that do often charge additional fees. We don’t want to single out any particular hotel, but here is the pet policy of W Hotels. You can decide if the additional fees are worth it.

W Hotel London Pet Policy

You’re invited—and your pet is too. Experience London with your four-legged friend by your side. While we welcome your pet, please note that a 25 GBP supplementary room charge and 100 GBP non-refundable cleaning fee will apply.  A maximum of one pet, per room is permitted up to the weight of 40 pounds/18KG.

Designated Hotel Rooms for Dogs

Even though the hotel may not charge additional fees for your dog, you may still end up paying extra. Some hotels designate room types for dogs which tend to be larger and more expensive. So don’t be surprised when the rate quoted is not the lowest available rate on the internet. You should confirm the room category, what is included, and most importantly, whether your dog can stay in the room.

Here are Some Resources to Help You Sniff out the Best Dog-friendly Hotels around London and the UK:

1. DogFriendly

DogFriendly is a website with a large database of dog-friendly accommodations and places to visit in the UK with your dog. While this site is a great resource, always check the hotel’s website directly to review their pet policy.

2. Booking.com

To search for dog-friendly hotels use the Pets allowed filter under the Facilities group. See my notes above about 3rd Party Booking Websites.

3. BringFido

According to BringFido, they are the world’s leading pet travel and lifestyle brand. You can search for dog-friendly hotels and book the hotel directly from their website. BringFido does a great job on listing the additional pet fees for each hotel and they also guarantee that they have confirmed the hotel’s pet policy.

Recommended Dog Friendly Hotels in London:

1. Ampersand Hotel

10 Harrington Road, London, SW7 3ER

Area:  The Ampersand is surrounded by some of London’s most famous districts, from Knightsbridge and Mayfair to Hyde Park and Chelsea — all within walking distance.

Park(s) Nearby:  Hyde Park

No pet fee.  Pets are only allowed in Deluxe Rooms, Deluxe Studios and Suites.

All pet-friendly rooms will come with a dog basket, treats, bowls & dog food so that your dog can enjoy their stay as much as you.

2. Mama Shelter London Shoreditch

437 Hackney Rd, London E2 8PP

Area:  Shoreditch is a district in the East End of London in England, and forms the southern part of the London Borough of Hackney.

Park(s) Nearby:  Mile End Park

Pet fee of 25 GBD per day per pet.  12 kilo maximum weight.

3. Hyatt Place London City East

Black Lion House, 45 Whitechapel Road, London, England, United Kingdom, E1 1DU

Visit their website at:  Hyatt Place London City East

Area: located in the vibrant heart of East London, adjacent to Aldgate East station and close to many of London’s most iconic landmarks and great local shopping.

Park(s) Nearby:  Mile End Park

Pet fee of 25 GBD.  23 kilo maximum weight.

Your pets are welcome at Hyatt Place London City East where they will receive a welcome package and a bowl with treats. Bring up to two dogs along when you stay with us.

Remember to bring a doggy blanket and some of their top toys when travelling with your dog. Your dog and the hotel staff will definitely thank you for it.
